1. What is Stock's Market for Street Dogs purpose? Our purpose is to provide necessities to dogs that live with displaced people through the generosity of donors.
2. What types of donations are needed? Monetary donations are always appreciated! We also are looking for new and gently used items, including: Dog clothing (coats, sweaters, boots), dog beds, blankets, towels, food containers, bowls, kennels/crates, waste bags and holders, leashes/collars/harness/tags, toys, waterproof bags for item storage, water/food/treats, grooming supplies, dental supplies, first aid supplies, potty pads, certificates for dental/vet visits, vaccines, boarding, grooming, etc.
3. Do my donations stay in Colorado? Yes, Stock's Market for Street Dogs specifically serves Denver and surrounding areas in Colorado.
4. What is my monetary donation spent on? Monetary donations are used to purchase necessities for street dogs and to help with the overhead costs of the organization.
5. What happens to items that I donate? Items that are donated are cleaned and sanitized if they have been gently used. All items are placed in inventory. On distribution days, items are taken to sites to match the needs of street dogs. Displaced people can also request specific needs through our website and we will do our best to supply that need to the dog(s).
6. Are the people who work for Stock's Market for Street Dogs compensated? No, all work is done on a volunteer basis and it is a policy that no one can take anything donated for their own use.
7. Is Stock's Market for Street Dogs registered with the state of Colorado? Yes, we are incorporated as a nonprofit corporation and are registered as a charitable organization. (#20253019162).
8. Is Stock's Market for Street Dogs registered with the IRS? Yes, we are a qualified 501(c)(3) federal tax exempt nonprofit public charity. (#26053595004705)
9. Are my donations tax exempt? Yes, donors can deduct contributions made to SMSD under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 170.
10. Can Stocks Market for Street Dogs receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers, and gifts? Yes, SMSD can receive all of these things under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.
11. Is Stock's Market for Street Dogs affiliated with any other charities? No, we are a stand-alone charity.
12. How is Stock's Market for Street Dogs governed? We have a Board of Directors who make important decisions. Meetings are bi-annually and are posted on our website. We are also subject to external oversight by government bodies (Colorado Secretary of State/IRS). The Organization is transparent about its activities.
13. Where can I see updates about activities and donations? Updates will be posted on our website.
14. When did Stock's Market for Street Dogs become official? The founders brainstormed the idea in February 2025. The Colorado Secretary of State approved SMSD in July 2025. The IRS approved SMSD in July 2025.
